How does Foodbarter.com Work?
Think
of foodbarter.com as Facebook for gardeners combined with
the ability to share food and create an online food bartering
community. It can also be a great way for restaurants and
businesses to connect with farmers and find locally grown produce
to meet their demands!
If
you're looking for local produce for sale of for trade, you simply
enter your zip code and see what registered neighbors and businesses
have posted to the Food Classifieds. You can also view Grower
Profiles to get an idea of what neighbors and farmers in your area are
willing to share. It's not just about food, its about creating
community!
Get started by following these steps:
Step 1) Join the foodbarter.com community...
Registering
on FoodBarter.com is simple and free. Registering allows you to post
and manage Food Classifieds listings and contact other registered
community members.
Step 2) Setup your Grower Profile...
Many
of the fields during registration are option but important if you want
to get the most out of foodbarter.com. If you
choose, you can make information about your garden or your
business available so that other registered community members can
see what you
have growing or are willing to share! Why buy that new rototiller
when the neighbor down the street is willing to share? There is
also an online
food journal where registered members can keep notes on their garden's
progress throughout the year.
Step 3) Post listings in the food classifieds...
Post
listings of food for sale or trade to the Food Classifieds and make
sure to include a picture. Use common sense and remember that all
transactions are independently managed and foodbarter.com is not
responsible for any bad seeds...(this is where you have to make sure
you read all that important legal stuff in our Terms of Use).
